Tax Renewals of December 6 Ballot
The four tax propositions on the December 6 Ballot are tax renewals only. The first two propositions of the ballot are a ¾% and a ¼% sales tax renewal dedicated to the pick-up of solid waste parish wide. If you had no other reason to vote in this election, this should be your reason to go to the poles. East Feliciana paid approximately 1.2 million dollars last year for solid waste disposal, which equates to about $175.00 per household. The renewal of this 1 cent sales tax will ensure that you continue to get weekly trash/garbage pickup without a bill showing up in your mailbox for this service.
The third proposition on the ballot is a 1% sales tax renewal dedicated to the construction and maintenance of the roads and bridges in the parish and municipalities. This 1 cent sales tax provides nearly half of the money in the parish budget for road and bridge maintenance and nearly two thirds of the road and bridge maintenance money in the municipalities.
The fourth proposition on the ballot is a 3 mil property tax renewal dedicated to the operation and maintenance of the public health unit of the parish. As the State looks for ways to cut their strained budget, we need to ensure that the operation of our public health unit is supported by local funds and not solely at the mercy of the State budget managers.
For the good of East Feliciana please get out and support these four propositions on the December 6th ballot with a yes vote for each of these renewals."Keep East Feliciana Beautiful" has a Facebook page and is looking for volunteers. Link to facebook page.
